Fundamental Stage

10,000 Hours

In this phase of development, players are encouraged to learn, explore, develop and apply technical skills in a focused learning environment.  It will be most players’ first major steps towards acquiring 10,000 hours of training and practice of their craft as a soccer player.  Studies have shown that after an individual has processed an average of 10,000 hours, they will have successfully become proficient in their job at hand.  This is according to Malcolm Gladwell, writer of the book Outliers, which helps highlight many examples of individuals or groups in which this theory applies.
